I got married while I was in Dubai and we migrated to Australia in 1997 where I taught at Canberra Girl’s Grammar School. In 2000, we decided to travel overseas again and I taught at DESS Al Khor in Doha for 2 years. During this time I worked with Ros Wilson who is renowned for her work in literacy. Then we went to work in Taipei European School for 2 years which allowed us to experience working and travelling in Asia for the first time. I have held a variety of responsibility positions throughout my teaching career in many different schools which has allowed me to develop professionally.
Finally, in 2004, we moved to Brunei where I was Deputy Head of Jerudong International School, a prestigious school in S.E. Asia. After our children had left home to go to university, we decided to head back to the Middle East. I arrived at Compass International School in August 2013 and I am currently teaching Year 4. I am Deputy Head of Primary and Milepost 2 Leader, which includes Year 3 and 4.
It's been a wonderful three years at Compass International School and I am delighted to have been a part of the many changes that have taken place. We have become a fine community and I have seen it grow and become more vibrant. I look forward to the future developments that we have planned.
I enjoy the diversity of the children at Compass and the global nature of our staff and pupils. The teaching staff are very supportive and I have enjoyed their company and commitment this year.
I have been married to David for almost 25 years and we have travelled to many countries both personally and professionally. My husband is Head of Economics and Business Studies at Doha College. We have 2 children, Yasmin who is 21 and was originally adopted from India and Alexander who is 20 who was adopted from Guatemala. Both our children attend university in Australia. They are truly ‘Global Citizens’.
David and I both play golf together, although this is a relatively new hobby for me. I took it up after our children left home as I had more time on my hands! In my spare time, I enjoy travelling, cooking, theatre and swimming. During our holidays, we enjoy travelling to different places and catching up with the many friends that we have made from all over the world. We see our children regularly as they enjoy coming over to Doha and we return to Australia and the UK during the year.
