I moved to Doha in 2012 with my husband and two young children to experience living and teaching in another country. Following my undergraduate degree, I worked in the pharmaceutical industry for four years before entering the teaching profession in 2007. Prior to moving to Doha, I worked in a school in Scotland for five years teaching general science and chemistry.
For the last six years I have worked at another international school in Doha, where I have gained a wealth of experience teaching both the IB MYP Integrated Science and IBDP Chemistry courses. I have attended IB workshops for these programmes, both here and abroad, which have enhanced learning and teaching in my classes greatly. Last year I also attended the ECIS Annual Educators Conference in Copenhagen entitled ‘Cultivating Curiosity’. Part of this event involved a two day Blended Learning workshop which enhanced the integration of technology into my practice for better student development and learning experiences.
Outside of school life I enjoy family time at the many parks, pools and beaches available to us in Doha. In my younger years I was a competitive Irish dancer and I now try to remain fit and healthy with weekly running and yoga. I am looking forward to joining Compass International School and the challenge of a new school. I am equally excited about meeting new people and forging new relationships.
