After 15 years of teaching and leadership in UK state schools, I decided I was ready for a huge change and a new challenge. I am extremely excited about becoming a part of Nord Anglia Education and, more specifically, Compass International School’s Madinat Khalifa team, as the ethos to “be ambitious” is something which perfectly matches my own. I genuinely look forward to offering my skills, experience and expertise to the students and eagerly anticipate the positive impact I can make on the children’s lives. The reason I have chosen to live and work in Qatar is that I have always seen and heard fantastic things about life in Doha from friends who also live and teach there. I had an amazing time when I visited the Doha this year and it convinced me that I needed to experience life and work in Doha for myself. In all honesty, I was desperate to come back! I’m also sure that there was some mention of the World Cup being hosted by Qatar in 2022…?
I am a keen sportsman and have various hobbies and interests. I love being active, run regularly and like to keep myself in good shape in the gym. I occasionally play football and have more recently taken up Golf. In addition, I aim to complete a triathlon during my time in Qatar as it has been a long held ambition of mine. I enjoy learning through reading books, watching TED talks, documentaries, trying new things, subscribing to various YouTube channels and listening to Audiobooks. I also firmly believe that self-improvement is a lifelong process and I aim to achieve something each day that makes me better or teaches me something new. Finally, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and love to travel. The latter is something I would like to do more of whilst in Doha, considering its proximity to so many new and interesting destinations.
