Newsletter for 27th November 2014

28 November 2014

A great week for sports and preparations for UAE National Day!

Message for the Principal

Dear all,

This has been a great week so I'd like to address the good, the bad and the ugly just to add some balance.

Firstly the good;

A really wonderful week of sporting performances from the older students with the girls and the boys putting in great performances and simultaneously showing a great sporting attitude. The whole school is proud of them.

Also I'm sure you will have noticed that we're gearing up for the 43rd  UAE National Day. Within your daily email you will have already been informed of the arrangements for the parade taking place at The Walk JBR for Years 3 to 8 on Sunday 30th November.  Further down the newsletter there will be the full details of the celebrations taking place within school on Monday 1st December. The colours of the UAE flag are quite prominent around the school!

Secondly the bad (but getting better);

The pool has been out of action for a while due to the heating capacity of the system being insufficient as the weather cooled.  The engineers are working on the solution and the system will be upgraded by the Christmas break at the latest. We hope it will be sooner.

And finally…the ugly;

The outside area of the school, next to the drop off point, will be paved over the next few weeks; with work beginning soon.  The paving will go to the perimeter of each car park. We wanted to undertake the work earlier however this would have disrupted traffic too much. The forthcoming break gives us a good chance to carry out the work without waiting for the longer holiday.

Have a wonderful weekend with your families.

Mike Embley

Message from the Head of Secondary

This week has been diversity week in the secondary school.  We celebrated the diverse culture and range of nationalities we have at NAS Dubai.  The students read poetry and performed songs and dances from around the world; it was a truly amazing spectacle.

Our netball and football teams enjoyed great sporting success winning 8-0 respectively, the success stories just continue.

Next week is UAE National Day and the theme of the UAE will run through our form times as well as a number of events in and out of school.

A quick reminder that on Monday all students should wear colours of the UAE flag (red, black, white or green) or UAE national dress.

I am very excited to be experiencing my first UAE National Day.
