I love being part of the outstanding EYFS team at Nord Anglia International School Dubai. It is evident when you walk around the unit, that the Early Years team strive to have a play based and fully child initiated learning environment. This reflects my ethos of children taking control of their own learning through hands on experiences and enquiry based play.

I am passionate about teaching and I have a special interest in early childhood development. I believe it is crucial to build solid foundations in those early years to enable children to grow and flourish in later years. I love the idea that children can learn through play and start to discover the world around them and more importantly who they are.

I believe the class should be a homely, creative and enlightening setting, where learning is taking place every single moment of the day. Therefore, I always allow new opportunities for children to learn whether it is myself doing the teaching, children learning by themselves or teaching each other something new. I strive to develop passionate learners, self-confident, happy, socially aware and independent children.

I began my teaching career by training to become a special needs learning assistant. I then went on to become a qualified teacher by completing my PGCE and Masters in East London, where I specialised in Early Years and special educational needs.

During my career I have mainly worked in Early Years. However, during my time in Dubai, I have worked in KS1, KS2 and KS3. My prior roles have included; EYFS leader, RE Co-ordinator and EYFS lead training mentor. I have been observed by Ofsted, Local Education Authorities and Head Teachers always achieving outstanding levels of teaching.

My spare time consists of nights in with a big bowl of salty caramel popcorn and a Disney or Superhero movie. When I’m not enjoying my couch, I love travelling round the UAE with my husband and friends, finding a good spot to have a barbecue on the beach.
