Having thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of my degree I continued to study for my post graduate certificate in education and became a qualified teacher in 2004. After teaching in the UK for three years I decided to combine my career with my love of travel and I accepted my first international teaching position in Dubai in 2008.
My teaching career has provided me with so many valuable experiences and I have gained so much enjoyment and satisfaction from my role as a primary educator. I have taught many year groups in Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. However, I must confess I am particularly passionate about teaching the younger years. I love getting messy and take pride in creating a fun, engaging and stimulating learning environment for my class.
Child initiated learning is at the center of my philosophy. I feel it is important that children take ownership of their own learning through exploration, risk taking, decision making and problem solving. I strongly believe that young children learn best through play as it provides opportunities to experience learning in a meaningful and purposeful way, allowing them to develop the skills to become effective learners.
I pride myself on my personalised teaching approach, which allows me to customise learning for each student considering their individual strengths, needs, skills and interests. Consequently, allowing every child to make great progress and reach their full potential.
When I’m not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family, including my two young sons. At the weekends we keep busy with the array of activities that Dubai has to offer. During the school holidays we love to explore and travel to new places.
