Teaching is my passion, not just my job, and I am incredibly fortunate that I teach a subject I am extremely passionate about. History is my specialism and I read widely around the subject for personal pleasure. In my previous school I was Head of Sixth Form and Head of Humanities, and I have also had responsibility in other areas such as Gifted & Talented provision and Head of House.
My own educational philosophy is rooted in the belief that a school is a pupil-centered community in which each individual student should feel cared for, guided and supported, enabling every student to fulfil their potential. I also believe there should be no ceilings placed on what each child can achieve; something I know is at the crux of the ethos here at NAS Dubai.
In my role as Assistant Head Teacher at NAS Dubai my mantra is that pastoral care is the mortar to the bricks of academic learning. We all run up against the proverbial brick wall in life from time to time, but outstanding pastoral care will support students in knocking that wall down. I also believe that outstanding pastoral care will create a happy, supportive learning environment as happy students are invariably high attaining students.
Beyond teaching I am a keen sporting enthusiast and follow my home town football team, Sunderland, with more than just a passing interest! I also enjoy keeping fit, travelling and reading, but above all I just like to keep myself busy!
