I have a BA (Hons) Degree in Geography awarded from The University of Birmingham and upon graduating I worked for a transport planning consultancy firm. As part of my role I was responsible for creating Microsimulation models that were used for the 2012 Olympics in London and the sailing events in Weymouth.
I always had a yearning to teach so decided in 2013 to complete my PgDipEd at The University of Birmingham. Since qualifying I have enjoyed working at an Outstanding Secondary School in Birmingham and have spent two years teaching at the Nord Anglia School in Guangzhou, China.
Teaching has enabled me the opportunity to really inspire and learn from students with a variety of different backgrounds. The most rewarding aspect of my role is the ability to change a young person’s outlook and understanding of the world. This is what really drives me to be the best teacher I can be for my students. As a Geographer I have a passion for finding out and exploring the world. Having the opportunity to teach students in an international setting is a fantastic privilege and I look forward to continuing this at NAS Dubai.
Geography is a subject that is relevant and dynamic, helping students to make sense of the world. As a multidisciplinary subject I believe it equips students with a variety of transferable skills that can be applied to both the physical and social sciences. Geography is the only subject that helps students to really understand and examine some of the challenges the world faces, and encouraging this curiosity about the world is why I love teaching my subject.
When not teaching, I enjoy travelling and visiting other cultures and I am very excited to explore the Middle East and experience this rich culture. My family and myself are also keen to sample many of the outdoor opportunities available in Dubai. I am delighted to be joining NAS Dubai and look forward to working at a school where students and learning come first.
