Secondary Mathematics, Head of Year 9
I am extremely excited to be part of the Mathematics department at NAS Dubai and could not have started out in a better school for my first teaching post abroad.
My name is Steve Ormston. I’ve been teaching Secondary Mathematics at NAS Dubai since the school opened in 2014.
After studying at the University of York I moved to the Midlands to start my teaching career, where I have been for the past four years.
I was born and raised in a small village in County Longford in Ireland. I have a BSc (honours) degree in Biology and Mathematics which I attained from the National University of Maynooth in Ireland. From there I completed my IPGCE in Mathematics at Bangor University in Wales.
I grew up in Rutland which is the smallest county in the United Kingdom. I graduated with a first class honours from the University of Leeds and then studied for a PGCE at the University of Nottingham, alongside teaching full time at Northampton Academy.
Originally from Hartlepool in the North East of England, I studied Mathematical Studies at the University of Leeds. Following this I completed my PGCE in Mathematics teaching at the University of Durham.
