I completed my Bachelor in History with Education Studies at Bath Spa University in 2012, but I didn’t stop there! Following my heart, I knew that teaching was the ideal career path for me. I loved the ‘light bulb moments’, the positive relationships that teachers can build with students and sharing my love for learning. Therefore, immediately after having obtained my Bachelor degree, I continued at Bath Spa University for my teacher training. I graduated in 2013 with a PGCE (Early Years and Primary), and kept my promise to spread my traditional education values to settings around the world. So, in September 2013 I moved to Dubai and worked at an American International School until July 2015.
Despite my love for Dubai and the wonderfully multicultural environment, I moved to Qatar in August 2015 to become part of the Nord Anglia family in Al Khor. During that year, I completed my NQT qualifications and worked with a class of mostly local Year 5 students. I greatly enjoyed learning some more Arabic, sharing key moments with my students and watching them grow into responsible and ambitious members of the community.
This will be my second year teaching Year 4 at NAS Dubai. I am looking forward to encouraging my new students to be ambitious, proactive and hard-working members of our community. It will be a wonderful year during which I am seeking to build positive relationships with all students, working collaboratively within a professional team and to participating in some spectacular learning. I have a very energetic teaching style and encourage my students to be inquisitive, critical thinkers. In my classroom, students can find a place where they are encouraged to participate in class discussions, a place that promotes confidence and smiling faces, and where they can feel safe to share their ideas and thoughts.
In my free time, I love learning new languages, reading, shopping, spending time with friends and travelling home to see my family across the globe. I speak five languages; Dutch, English, French, Spanish and German, and am currently learning Swahili as I will be getting married in Kenya this year. Finally, my two sporting passions are skiing and horse riding, both of which I hope to continue next year!
