How long have you attended NBPS?
I have attended NBPS for the past four years.
What activities, clubs and service organizations are you involved with? Include any leadership roles you hold (or have held)?
Over the past four years, I have been involved in numerous activities, clubs, and organizations at NBPS. Since my freshmen year, I have been part of both the Junior Varsity and Varsity Ice Hockey Teams. I was Assistant Captain for three years and Captain my senior year. I am also currently the President of the Interact Club in which I organize various community service projects and fundraisers. The club has raised over $40,000 for the St. Baldrick's Foundation and plans to raise an additional $50,000 in 2018. During my sophomore and junior years, I was part of small group who created two historical documentaries and competed in the National History Day Fair State Competition. Currently, I am part of the Solar Car Team at North Broward and I am Vice-President of Rho Kappa Honor Society.
What has been your favorite class at NBPS and why?
My favorite class I have taken at NBPS was AP Chemistry. This class truly sparked my passion for Science, as I was able to work hands-on in various experiments and explore any specific interests within the subject. In addition, my teacher, Mrs. Cotera, provided amazing guidance and assistance to propel me through my high school endeavors.
What do you plan to study in college?
When I attend Princeton University in 2018, I plan on majoring in astrophysics. However, I am very open to various other majors in both the engineering and science fields.
What advice would you give to students who want to attend an Ivy League School?
If you would like to attend an Ivy League School, I recommend that you explore the many opportunities that NBPS provides you and find one that you are truly passionate about. Try to become a leadership member in one of the many clubs and create a project of your own. In addition, if possible, I would recommend getting a job or internship. Whether throughout the school year or during summers, a job shows responsibility and commitment. Always work hard and put forth your best effort because in the end, it is all worth it.
