Dear NBPS Families,
It looks like we may breathe a tentative sigh of relief as Hurricane Dorian finally begins moving north out of the Bahamas. We have been spared the most significant impacts of Hurricane Dorian here in South Florida, although we are still awaiting the closest pass of the storm to Palm Beach County later this evening. NBPS will remain closed on Wednesday, September 4th to allow the school to conduct a full assessment of the campus and to be fully prepared to reopen on Thursday, September 5th.
We understand that many members of the NBPS community have evacuated prior to the storm and it will take a few days to return. With this in mind, when we reopen it will be with a flexible expectation of attendance and the understanding that students will need to be supported if they miss the reopening of school. Our fantastic teachers will be planning accordingly. In addition, we are looking to reschedule the Lower and Middle School Back to School Nights and will let you know when we have finalized the dates.
I am grateful that we have been spared what looked like a direct hit only a few days ago. We can express our gratitude by supporting the victims of Hurricane Dorian. Relief organizations agree that the most effective method to support victims of disasters such as Hurricane Dorian is to make a cash donation. As a school we will be collecting cash donations in carline and in each of the division offices if you would like to make a contribution. Alternatively you can visit redcross.org/donate, call 1-800-RED CROSS, or text the word Dorian to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
Gratefully,

Dear NBPS Community,
Based on the latest predicted intensity and track for Hurricane Dorian we have made the decision to close school on Tuesday, September 3rd and Wednesday, September 4th. Following the storm, as soon as it is safe, we will begin assessing the campus and working to reopen. We intend to send a status update on Wednesday at 6:00pm that will update you on our ability to reopen beginning Thursday, September 4th. This, like all communications moving forward will be shared using email, our website at www.nbps.org, Facebook, Twitter and Skylert.
Whether you choose to stay put or move to another location, please do so safely. Know our thoughts are with you and we look forward to reuniting as a community as soon as possible.

Dear North Broward Families,
As many of you are aware, South Florida is currently in the path of Hurricane Dorian. The storm is on track to make landfall in Florida late Monday night, September 2nd into Tuesday, September 3rd. While there are still many variables about the strength of the wind, the timing of impact and the direction of the storm, our focus is on the well-being of the NBPS community.
NBPS will have school as normal tomorrow, but because safety is our first priority, we have decided to close the campus to all non-essential personnel beginning Friday night following the football game. This means that all activities beginning Saturday, August 31st through Monday, September 2nd have been cancelled.
We have additionally made the decision to evacuate our residential students, dorm parents and residential administration to hotels in Atlanta, Georgia. They, like all of us will return to campus when we receive confirmation that the storm has passed, the campus and facilities at North Broward Prep are ready for operation and we can safely travel in South Florida.
We will continue to communicate with you before, during, and after the storm using one or more of the following methods: the NBPS website at www.nbps.org, an email blast to all families, our Twitter feed, @NBPSEagles, and/or through our Facebook page.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions.
Warm regards,
Bruce Fawcett
