Senior Selected as National Merit Semifinalist

September 12, 2018

  • Andrew Hunter 2

Please join us in congratulating Andrew Hunter, a Senior who has just become a National Merit Semifinalist. Andrew is a dedicated student in the IB Diploma Program, yearbook editor, and lacrosse player. As a student who has been at WPS since Kindergarten, he continues to demonstrate all aspects of the WPS crest, and will now represent us as he seeks to become a National Merit Finalist.

Such prestigious recognition is given to students who have earned high scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Qualifying Test - a test that serves approximately 1.6 million students each year. Students from all over the country compete for this recognition, and Andrew was among the approximate 16,000 out of 50,000 high scorers on the exam.

Andrew’s remarkable accomplishment brings great pride to the WPS High School. During the spring, the NMSC will reveal the students who have made it through to be National Merit Finalists. We wish Andrew the best as we know that he works tirelessly in his efforts in academics, the arts, and athletics each day, so to earn the title of Semifinalist is a wonderful accomplishment!
