ResLife Weekly Updates

As with any Residential Life Program, our team of Dorm Parents are a vital part to a successful program.  The Dorm Parents serve in the role of Mom or Dad to our Boarding Students.  They handle many of the same duties that any day student parent has including following up on grades, afterschool activities, caring for them when they are sick, or having a rough day.  Essentially, they laugh, cry, reprimand, and love the kids as if they are their own children.
This week we would like to highlight one of our amazing new Dorm Parents, Michael Reis.  Please take a peak at his spotlight below.
Years at WPS/Nord Anglia:  This will be my fourth year with WPS. My eighth year teaching in school overall.

Years in  Residential Life Program: This is my first year as a dorm parent and I’m looking forward to the experience.

What has been the highlight of your experience working with Boarding Students?

I have had a great time learning about the student’s cultures and their passions. I have been interacting and working with boarding students as a teacher for years. I have seen many of our boarding students grow over the years. I am a big fan of enriching lives and life lessons. Even being here for a short period as a dorm parent, I have had opportunities to work with some of our young men already, and I know I am making a difference by leading by example. One of my goals is to make everyone around me better.

College(s): I graduated from the New York Institute of Technology.

Favorite quotation: “Chance favors the prepared mind” - Louis Pasteur

Favorite grade/class/subject when you were growing up: My favorite classes were all the Science classes in High School.

Favorite book or musician: The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho. I enjoy a lot of Paulo Coelho’s books. He is one of my favorite authors.

3 things you would bring to a deserted island:

A beautiful beach home fully furnished and with an endless supply of food, water, and a music studio inside the home.

A speed boat to get back and forth to the mainlands.

A GPS Satellite phone.

Family Information: I am married to a wonderful woman who is very supportive and I am blessed to have a beautiful daughter

I enjoy listening to dance music even though I don’t dance much.

I enjoy watching and playing soccer.
