Top of the league!

BSG U14 Boys Football team cemented their place at the top of the league thanks to a 6-3 victory over UISG on Tuesday.

U14 Boys Football 2018/19

BSG made one change to the side that ran out 14-0 winners over Clifford in their last fixture, with Tiger Zhou playing in goal in place of the absent Tommy Yan. BSG started the game strongly with Oscar Niwa-Tomkies sliding a well weighted pass through to Joshua Kim who slotted past the on-rushing keeper to make it 1-0 after just 2 minutes. Two minutes later Joshua Kim turned provider, holding the ball up well before passing across the face of goal for Ren Aomi to fire into an empty net for 2-0.

On 7 minutes BSG made it 3-0, Ren Aomi playing a great through ball down the right flank for Oscar Niwa-Tomkies to cross for his second assist and Joshua Kim’s second goal, this time a headed finish past the UISG goalkeeper. Just moments later, with less than 10 minutes on the clock, Oscar Niwa-Tomkies bagged his 3rd assist, and in turn Joshua Kim his 3rd goal of the game when Oscar’s long throw-in was headed past the goalkeeper by Joshua to make it 4-0.

An action packed first half was rounded off by Osman Kahn when he powered Joshua Kim’s lay off into the net for 5-0.

A change in personnel and tactics in the second half led to a disjointed second half performance from BSG, however a brief UISG fightback was halted by Kence He, who ran clear to put the game beyond all doubt and round off a 6-3 victory.

Man of the match goes to Joshua Kim who scored 3 and assisted two, before later steadying the defence with some crucial interceptions at centre back, when it looked for a moment like a UISG fightback might be on the cards.

Congratulations to all involved. The boys now look forward to facing AISG after the half term break in what will be the league decider.
