I am an Australian trained teacher with a Bachelor of Education in Junior Primary and Primary school teaching. I also have a Bachelor of Arts with majors in History and Politics. I have been working for the past 14 years in Reception and Year 1, mostly in British International Schools. I have worked in a variety of fascinating countries including New Zealand, South Korea, Kuwait and Vietnam. I feel very privileged to be working for so many years abroad in great schools with fabulous children. I have also worked back home in Australia for two years teaching Reception to Year 7, mostly in Key Stage 2. My passion is teaching in Reception and Year 1.
I decided to come to Guangzhou for a new experience. I was very keen to work at BSG as it was a relatively new school, had many opportunities for growth and development and had a long-term vision of being a school offering world-class education. In the time I have been in Guangzhou I have taught in Year 1 and Reception, have been a Year Leader and am the Literacy Coordinator on the Lower School. I am so pleased to have come to Guangzhou and it has been my home for the past 4 happy years.
I enjoy travelling and experiencing new countries and cultures. I like cooking and trying new recipes. I especially like baking cakes and other sweet treats. I am an avid reader and I wish I had more time to read books. In Australia I live near the beach so I when I go home I enjoy long walks on the beach with my dog and dolphin spotting. Recently I have taken up the challenge of Boot Camp classes. It is hard work but it is important to keep fit and healthy, especially as I do have a sweet tooth!
