Ms. Smit graduated from the University of Cape Town with a BA in English, Psychology, and Media and Writing, before moving to Stellenbosch University and completing her BA Honours in English. She secured her PGCE at the University of Cape Town the following year. She is currently working towards her Master’s in Education. Ms. Smit taught in South Africa before moving to Hong Kong where she has taught a range of curricula, some of which include IGCSE, A-Level and the IBDP. She has taken on roles of responsibility, such as those within the House portfolio and overseeing lower secondary English. She has also mentored IBDP students through their CAS project.
Ms. Smit is passionate about presenting her classes with interesting and challenging lessons to prepare her students to make meaningful and insightful contributions to the world around them. She aims to create an inclusive classroom where all learners are supported and feel comfortable participating in lessons.
When not teaching, Ms. Smit loves travelling, spending time outdoors and exploring all that Hong Kong has to offer.
