While studying for my BA in business in Belgium I taught both Dutch and English, mostly to children through Berlitz International. I loved this so much that after returning to the Netherlands I went back to school to work on my BA in teaching.
In the Netherlands, I had worked both full-time and part-time for several years when I was told there were schools, outside the Netherlands, that needed Dutch teachers to teach Dutch.
The one school that stood out to me, now eight years ago, was the British International School of Houston. To me, having been educated at a British school myself, this seemed a perfect opportunity for me to broaden my horizon and to help Dutch children abroad to have the education they need.
Outside of school my life revolves around my son. I enjoy spending as much time as I can with him. Right now he is very involved in rugby so most weekends you will find me supporting him and his friends. I love living in Houston and one of my hobbies is getting to know the city as best as I can, that means we visit museums, art galleries, parks and any festivals that constantly take place in this dynamic city.
What the students say about me...
“I like Ms Bos because she always makes the lesson fun.”
“I like Ms Bos because she helps me to read in Dutch and I can now read in Dutch and English!”
“Ms Bos makes spelling fun with games”
This school is different to all others I have worked at because…
Our students are the best students anywhere! They are so willing to learn and therefore so easy to teach. This is what keeps me here at this unique school, I don’t think I will ever find a better place to work!
