I have helped build a music program by developing a whole-school music literacy program for students in grades K-12. This experience ignited my passion for working with students of all ages, and introduced me to Classical Education where all subjects are intertwined. I joined the staff of the Houston Grand Opera as their education manager where I was able to use my experiences to build programs for students of all ages. The path to joining the team at BISH was not initially a clear one, but I became aware of this world-class resource through searches for arts positions in this area. I am in awe of the talented faculty and staff, and thrilled to both be on faculty and have my children in attendance.
I absolutely love the sport of triathlon! The workouts are always different and it allows me to experience the same progression as I did when I was a professionally performing musician: lots of practice and then one shot at the performance. I was delighted to learn that there are many other triathletes on the BISH faculty! Both of my children also race triathlon. My son, William, actually stopped once in a race to help an injured racer. He made sure he crossed the finish line and got his medal by walking arm-in-arm with him!
This School is different to all others I have worked at because…
I have never been part of such a diverse and accomplished team. Every teacher brings not only intense passion but also years of the highest level experience to their positions. I am also in awe of the Juilliard curriculum. The holistic approach to the learning and instruction of the arts is a gift to future generations and will ensure that the arts continue to be an integral part of the fabric of our lives.
