Learning Specialist, Dyslexia Interventionist, ADD Coach
I am a degreed education professional with a B.S in Journalism and Speech Communications from North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. I have been working with school age, adolescent and adult learners for 20 years as Founder and Director of The Centre for Assisted Learning in Houston, Texas. I specialize in working with students challenged by Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia and AD/HD by helping them develop unique and individualized solutions to their learning issues. I am Neuhaus and Orton-Gillingham trained in dyslexia remediation as well as a professionally trained AD/HD Coach from the Optimal Functioning Institute in Chattanooga, TN. Four years ago, I had the distinct honour of being called upon by the British International School of Houston to provide specialized instruction for a growing and diverse student population. Since then, it has been an absolutely enriching and rewarding experience that I hope to continue for years to come.
My professional interests lie in the exciting and intriguing area of brain science. I am a firm believer in the notion that the brain has a “plasticity” that allows it to change and evolve over time in order to repair or enhance it’s abilities. Other interests of mine are enjoying outdoor activates with my wife and two sons such as camping, fishing and hiking. Also, raising a family is a high priority for my wife and I, not to mention an exhausting endeavour at times. We take great interest in managing and developing our parental responsibilities in loving and nurturing ways.
What the students say about me
“Mr. Eddie” makes time fly by having fun and learning at the same time.
I like working with “Mr. Eddie” because I can earn game-day sessions for working hard and doing good work!
The learning games we play teach me to be fair and honest and how to negotiate.
This School is different to all others I have worked at because
The British International School of Houston students are an absolute delight to work with! I find them to be very well mannered, interesting and have a wide diversity of interests, talents and abilities. In addition, the teaching faculty and staff show a genuine and sincere dedication to each student’s academic achievement and overall personal growth.
