I am a passionate teacher with over 12 years of teaching experience in Special Education Needs (SEN). Originally from Belfast, in Northern Ireland, I completed a two-year PGCE, training in both Primary and Secondary Education and specializing in Key Stage 2 and 3. I went on to work in three private SEN schools, in the United Kingdom, working with a variety of learners with a range of individual needs.
Internationally, I taught for 3 years at Tanglin Trust School in Singapore, where I was responsible for the learners that required the highest level of support in the Junior School. I relished the opportunity to contribute to what is a truly outstanding school, as recognized by the British Overseas Inspection in February 2016. Here at BISH, I am delighted to take on the role of Head of Student Support Services and through this role I will be responsible for leading an exceptional team that ensures all of our learners are provided with the support they need to thrive. As a part of this role, I will be working closely with the Admissions team to ensure that we are able to meet the needs of any prospective learners and their families.
As an expat child myself, I loved travelling around the world with my family and appreciated the huge variety of experiences gained from the different cultures I was immersed in. This was an experience that my husband, Aaron, and I wanted for our own children. As a family, we are deeply committed to contributing to the outstanding BISH community, to enjoying all that Katy life has to offer and to exploring both Texas and the USA.
This School is different to all others I have worked at because…
This is an exciting time to be at BISH and to be part of developing the use of this unique building and different learning spaces to ensure all the learners reach their full potential.
