Staff Profile: Ben Brown

Ben Brown

Head of Year 1 and Year 1 Class Teacher

It was during my Year 10 work experience placement that I realised I wanted to become a primary school teacher.

Teaching became an ambition of mine following my Year 10 work experience and, after completing my Bachelor’s in Education, I have worked with fantastic children from all over the world. This will be my third year at BISH and my second leading Year 1, I have previously worked with Key Stage 1 and 2 in outstanding schools in Doha and London. I believe every child has boundless potential and my aim for every child I work with is to provide them with the opportunities to grow into passionate, ambitious and lifelong learners. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Houston since arriving here in 2016 and, outside of school, can often be found at local running events or at the dog park with my spaniel, Sevi.

What students say about me

‘I like Mr Brown because he is funny, good at sports and makes fantastic learning for us!’

‘I like Mr Brown because he plays with us and helps us build our Lego ideas’

‘Mr Brown cares about everyone in our class and has a happy smile’

This school is different to all others I have worked at because...

The ethos of the school is perfectly in line with my own. The belief that there are no boundaries to how much a child can achieve is one I hold wholeheartedly and I look forward to helping all learners be ambitious and make incredible progress. I can't wait to use all of the new facilities to create wonderful and unique learning opportunities. Especially with the ability to use outdoor space as part of the children’s learning without having to worry as much about the weather as we often have to battle the rain in London! I am also excited about once again getting to work with children from all over the world, I’m sure I will learn about parts of the world I have not seen from the children.
