Week of September 5th Schedule

Thank you to all of our families, faculty and staff members who have provided love and support to one another during the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. The outpouring of kindness and generosity has been overwhelming from everyone. You have opened your homes to families, donated food and clothing, and graciously volunteered your efforts to support our community. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

After receiving feedback from our families, teachers, and administrative team, we have decided to amend next week’s schedule to allow for a rolling start as we transition back to school. The schedule will be as follows:

Tuesday, September 5th- Teachers Only

  • We want to allow our teachers a full day to get acclimated, meet with their teams and division directors, and prepare for our students’ return to school.
  • If you are unable to get to school, your safety is our primary concern and please communicate with your directors.
  • ACE is available to all children of faculty and staff members at no cost. They can also stay with you throughout the day if needed.

Wednesday, September 6th- Middle School and High School Students Return to School

  • Classes are modified and students will be working on “Community Based Projects” rather than academics.
  • If you are unable to attend school, attendance is not required and your safety is our primary concern.

Thursday, September 7th- Finna and Elementary School Students Return to School

  • If you are unable to attend school, attendance is not required and your safety is our primary concern.

Friday, September 8th

  • Students who can attend will continue to work on community projects and explore ways to support our Village families.

*Monday, September 11th- Normal Schedule and Operations

School Hours

We will operate under normal school hours, but understand that students will arrive at different times due to the circumstances. We will be ready to receive your students when they arrive.

More details about scheduling will be sent from your division directors in an email later today.

Services to our Community

Nord Anglia Education, both regionally and our home office in Hong Kong, is supporting our community as we continue to respond to the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey. They have been communicating with us throughout, and offer support to both our community and our sister school. They have been working with our vendors to offer our community with relief in the following areas so far:

Flik- Will be providing all students, faculty and staff with free lunches next week. If any families need take-home meals, we will have a sign up available.

Dennis Uniforms- Will be donating and providing uniforms to families who lost their belongings. We will be holding a uniform drive next week and will send more communication for details on that soon.

Aambassador Transportation- Aambassador is working with Village and BISH to expand their routes and provide both communities with additional busing and transportation. Once we know where our students are located, and best possible routes and roadways, we will send out further communication that will give details.

Nord Anglia Education- In the process of setting up a GoFundMe drive to support both Nord Anglia Education schools in the Houston area.

School Counseling Available

Our counselors will be preparing to handle any emotional response and they will be preparing our teachers for how to handle the needs of our students. If you feel your child would benefit from speaking to them, please encourage them to do so. Our student’s emotional wellness is our priority.

Routes to School

If you are uncertain of your route to school, please check the city-recommended TxDOT.gov to evaluate the various roads. Since road conditions are changing daily, please check close to the time you will be traveling.

Division Emails

You will be receiving an email from your division director later today that provides more detail regarding next week’s schedule and policies. These emails will include information regarding:

  • Scheduling
  • Attendance
  • Tests/Homework
  • Athletics and After School Programs

We are confident that this plan will allow us to better serve our teachers, families and students. We want to provide our community with the tools they need to be unified and prepared once we resume school. Again, I am extremely proud of the response from our community. Thank you all for your love and support.
