Head of English
Mr Kyle Milliner completed his BA in Modern and Contemporary History at Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London. He pursued his love of literature and went on to complete his PGCE in Secondary English at the University of Nottingham. This is also where he completed his MA in Education. Still passionate about English, Kyle is currently studying for his MA in English Literature. He joins us from another school in Malaysia and has lived here for 7 years.

English Teacher
Ms Ciara Gardener has over ten years of teaching English to all secondary key stages. Since qualifying for her PGCE at Roehampton University, she has taught across a variety of schools in London where she has very much used the city as her best teaching resource; taking students on frequent trips to Shakespeare's Globe theatre, galleries, museums and around other notable landmarks. Having previously spent some time living in New Zealand, she is very much looking forward to the challenge of teaching on yet another new continent and is excited about the travelling opportunities that living in Kuala Lumpur will provide for her.

Ms Katie Humphrey has worked as a Media and English teacher for 8 years in an Ofsted Outstanding Secondary school in Wiltshire; teaching all years as well as A level Media Studies and Literature. She was also in charge of whole school transition from KS2-KS3.

Mr James Jones completed his teacher training at the University of Exeter and began his career at a school in Somerset. He then moved to Shanghai to work at an award-winning IB school and have spent the last three years developing the curriculum there as Deputy Head of English. He is incredibly excited to be in Malaysia and is already enjoying the challenges and opportunities it presents.

Ms Jessica Wallis completed her degree at the University of Leeds and then studied her PGCE at Roehampton university. Jessica taught for six years at two London schools - one of which was an ‘Outstanding' inner city school. During her career, she was the Whole School Literacy Advisor for two years, KS3 Coordinator and later Head of the English Department.
Head of EAL / English Teacher
Ms Karolina Malinowska worked as personal trainer before becoming a teacher. This reinforced her desire to teach as she enjoys sharing her knowledge and empowering people. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education, PGDE in Secondary English and BA (Hons) in English. She enjoys keeping fit and taking part in running events and races. She also enjoys yoga, travelling and reading.
Secondary EAL/Curriculum Support
Ms Sarah Blaylock began her teaching career teaching Humanities and English after completing her PGCE in Secondary History with Citizenship from Manchester Metropolitan University. She is a wife and mother of 2 daughters, a keen self-taught cook and baker, who is excited to eat authentic Malaysian cuisine. After taking a career break following the births of her daughters, she is looking forward to returning to the classroom at BSKL.
