I studied a BSc in Mathematics and also completed my teacher training at Bristol University. I then moved to the first Academy School in London where I became a Pastoral Leader and subsequently Head of Mathematics. I was then appointed as Assistant Principal at a multi award winning IB School in Central London. I have spent the last eight years working in a number of Leadership roles for the largest international school organisation in Hong Kong. I was based largely in one school in the foundation and also took on the additional responsibility as a Curriculum Coordinator across the seven secondary schools for the final two years.
After graduating from University I worked as a Football coach in the USA coaching children from the ages of 3 to 18. This reinforced my desire to teach and to combine my passions for problem solving and critical thinking as a Maths teacher with my love of Sport contributing to the extra-curricular life of schools. My favourite sports are swimming and football and I enjoy travelling with my wife and three children.
Student happiness is about giving students a sense of belonging, enabling students to follow their passions and having the confidence to take action. I believe a school should nurture creativity and curiosity both inside and outside of the classroom and develop student voice and leadership. BSKL is the kind of school that makes these ideals a focus, alongside our very strong academic programmes.
