About

Miss Hodgson has always been passionate about music education. Having held positions in the UK, Moscow, and Yangon, Asta has now been teaching as a classroom music specialist for ten years.

Her first instrument is the cello, which she studied at degree level, before moving on to obtain her Secondary Music P.G.C.E with Specialist Strings Teaching in Manchester, where she also taught on the award winning Junior Strings Project at the Royal Northern College of Music. She also holds a Certificate in Dalcroze and believes strongly in the importance of developing holistic young musicians with singing, movement, and creativity at the forefront of her teaching philosophy.

For the past three years she has been developing the Primary Instrumental Programme at BSY, and last year introduced the Individual Music Programme.

In her spare time, Miss. Hodgson enjoys singing in community choirs, playing team sports, and holidaying in a variety of locations.
