Each Primary class has both a National and International Homeroom Teacher who are responsible for looking after the students’ pastoral and academic care. The Homeroom Teachers are parents’ first point of contact in communicating about their child’s well-being and progress at school.
Our language, and language learning philosophy, will be centred on creating a multilingual environment for our students, therefore, students will be taught in both English and Chinese where appropriate to the content of their learning sessions. Chinese language, literature and culture is primarily taught in Chinese, as will English language and literature be taught in English; students will be encouraged to make links, within these areas, to international culture, literature and other modern foreign languages. Science and mathematics is taught in both Chinese and English, drawing on the best elements from the Shanghai National Curriculum and complimentary standards from other bilingual curriculums.
This rigorous combination of assessment gives our students the opportunity to be assessed against other Chinese students studying the Shanghai National Curriculum as well as against other international students studying various curriculums across the world.
