As a way of introducing Thematic learning to our school, children in Primary have been learning all about the brain!
We have been thinking about how we use our brain, both inside and outside the classroom, and what we need to do to keep it healthy.
The ‘Brainwaves’ topic has helped explain how we can develop our knowledge, skills and understanding. Thematic covers many areas of learning and it is this cross-curricular approach that will encourage children to find connections between different lessons and subjects.
In our Thematic learning sessions, we teach important vocabulary in both English and Chinese to ensure children are immersed in a bilingual culture, encouraging dual-language conversations to promote new learning and repetition of language already learnt.
After the school holidays Grade 3 will be starting the topic, ‘Footprints from the Past’. Like detectives, we will try to discover what dinosaurs looked like, what they ate and what might have happened to them in the end. This exciting Thematic topic covers Art, Geography, History and Science learning; with ICT and International links too. We can’t wait to get started!
