Celebrate World Children’s Day
On Friday 16 November, our G10-12 students delivered various workshops for G7-12 students at NACIS Secondary. All workshops linked with UNICEF World Children’s Day (https://www.unicef.org/world-childrens-day) and the Global Goals and celebrated the theme of World Children’s Day “students take over”. After the workshops, the student leadership team also led the first “student-led conference” as the assembly for G7-12 students in the theatre. They discussed the origin of World Children’s Day, the adoption of the “Convention on the Rights of Child”, and introduced different student-led activities at NACIS, such as MUN and CAS clubs. The student leaders appealed to all Secondary school students to express their own aspirations and play an active role as young people with a voice. It was an amazing display of maturity, knowledge, caring, and risk-taking – an impressive demonstration of the Learner Profile in action!
Huacao Student Drama Festival
On 15 November, the first Student Drama Festival was held in Huacao Community. 12 public, private and international schools from the community discussed and exchanged views on the stage of Huacao Community Cultural Center.
Our secondary drama ECA students led by Mr. Richard Dobbs and Ms. Sunny Pu participated in the show on behalf of NACIS. They presented a classic clip of the Little Prince. Both teachers and students are very interested in the activity, which not only develops their team spirit, but also gives an opportunity to communicate and learn with other schools!
Destination Imagination (DI)
On 17 November, DI was held in Shanghai Luwan Middle School. The competition emphasizes on students' spontaneous reaction, team cooperation ability and research ability. More than 200 teams from all parts of the city attended this competition. Our DI Club ECA sent two teams to participate in the competition. Eventually our NGI team as a new team challenged other teams for the first time and obtained the third prize in the high school group. Well done.
