In this academic year, the FAST Maths has been used in all grades. It is not only providing teachers with data on the different levels of the students but also helps teachers to teach more effectively and students to learn more consciously. At the same time, it could help each student to better themselves. It enables students to understand themselves, enhance their self-confidence in learning mathematics, obtain a true sense of accomplishment, guide students to summarize and reflect, and improve their mathematics learning.
Recently, as one of the UK-China high level people-to-people dialogues, the England-Shanghai mathematics teachers exchange started again. We are so proud, we have four maths teachers who are one of the fifth wave in this project. Now, they continue to explore the integration and development between Chinese and English mathematical learning. For example, maths team didn’t give up the “Shanghai Mastery Model for Teaching and Learning”, Meanwhile, they pay more attention to the learning of different types students, encourage the enthusiasm of learning and expand the boundaries of mathematical learning. The use of mathematics picture books in lower grade not only stimulates students' interest in learning, but also helps them to successfully pass the study preparation period. Different design different maths activities, maths games, self-made mathematical tools, and explore the mathematical model in order to implement the curriculum objectives, constantly enlighten students' thinking.
In the Shanghai International Primary Mathematics Competition, NACIS Grade 4 team and Grade 5 team perform impressively to their teachers in those two days. They have the individual part about 5 seconds to answer one question and a team part about the communication and collaboration. At last, NACIS Grade 5 team won a single champion in the team competition, although got the fourth place overall, 1 less than the third, we are so proud of them. Looking forward to the next year.
