On 26 Oct, the first monthly tournament of NACIS golf team in the 2019 academic year concluded at the Shanghai Hongqiao Golf Course, where 13 players from primary division and 12 players from the junior high division competed.  The whole tournament took two and a half hours, where the players shot from three different tee boxes and were divided into three age groups.

Hongqiao is a 9-whole challenging course with difficult bunkers and many water hazards, but the junior golfers still managed to deliver very good scorecards.

In the primary division, Jiale Wu from 5 Oak won the championship with 36 strokes, Joanna Zhao from 5 Willow, and Eric Zhang from 3 Oak ranked No. 2 with 44 strokes, and No. 3 with 49 strokes respectively. While in the junior high division, Ronald Zheng from 7 Oak won the championship with 37 strokes, Wiley Hang from 8 Elm and Bruce Cai from 7 Yew, ranked No. 2 with 42 strokes and No. 3 with 44 strokes respectively; Joanna Zhao became the role model for primary players because of her impressive 8 strokes improvement within one month. Furthurmore, three special prizes were given to three players, Jiale Wu won the closest pin award for Hole 2, Ella Cui from 3 Oak won the closest pin award for Hole 7, and Johnny Li from 7 Yew won the best birdie award by capturing the only birdie in the tournament.

The volunteer parents organized this tournament, and it went through smoothly and timely. For the first time, the live scorecards broadcast through our WeChat group so that those parents who were away at work could watch the tournament progress in real time. After the tournament, the volunteers summarized the learned lessons, drafted the rules of golf team, and established the objective of NACIS golf team, “Create a fun, professional and team golf experience for the players. This is a very solid first step to the 5C concepts “Community” brought up by Principal Nick. The next monthly tournament will be held at the Metro Golf Course in mid-November; we are looking forward to having more NACIS students to join our golf team! Be ambitious!
