Hi everyone! Last week, the new semester began. As an old saying goes, well begun is half done. In response of this saying, we have made abundant preparation this week. Let’s look forward to more progress in this semester.
On 18 February, the first work day of the new semester, I made an introduction to our secondary teachers on the objectives, curriculum structure, evaluation methods as well as the future reforms of SNC, so that our teachers can reach a consensus on our secondary curriculum system and the implementation requirement. Meanwhile, Ms. Anne, our Deputy Headmaster, trained all the teachers on differentiated teaching based on the theory of multiple intelligences. Our principal Mr. Nick, dressing up as ‘Caishen’ in Chinese traditional culture, sent his best wishes for the new semester and brought happiness to everyone.
This week, our teachers have decorated all classrooms, thus creating a clean and comfortable environment with a positive learning atmosphere.
With the arrival of new semester, it’s so nice to see our students’ smiling faces again. Everyone said hello to each other and shared the interesting activities during the winter break. Among them, the theme “Chinese little master, parents’ good helper” was undoubtedly a highlight. The students, based on their personal abilities and interests, were inspired to do different kinds housework. This was the way they showed family responsibility and dedication for their loved ones, which at the same time developed their social skills.
We can’t wait to share with you some pictures (in the video below) and reflections of our Grade 8 students. Mark Chen from 8 Sycamore used App technology to scan the QR code of books and reorganized all books in the study successfully and efficiently. Gregory Pan from 8 Beech experienced “the joy of giving and the deep love for my family” by learning to make dumplings from his grandma. Michelle Chen from 8 Elm was so focused when doing housework that her picture attracted many people’s attention. The dessert made by Grace Dou from 8 Sycamore was such a temptation. Hope to see it at next food sale!
Before Semester 2 ECAs begin on March 11, our secondary English, Chinese, Maths, Science and Humanity departments have planned subject-based warm-up curriculum on Monday and Thursday afternoons, which last for an hour. Parents should be aware of the collection time.
We wish our students and parents a happy new semester!
