From 5 April to 7 April, NACIS golf team, comprising of 25 NACIS primary and secondary students, took part in the sixth Yaoshun Youth Cup Golf Tournament, which attracted 80 plus schools and 216 junior golfers in Shanghai. This year, Yaoshun Youth Cup became a formal tournament certified by Chinese Golf Association, which means this tournament becomes more influential and more gifted players will attend for the precious match points. In the meantime, the tournament organizer will donate RMB 20, on behalf of each player, to the kids in rural areas of Yunnan, which is in accordance with our initiative “Share A Dream” at NACIS.
During this 3-days and 6-rounds of intense competition, our junior players tried their best and achieved great results. Our 14 primary students finished runner-up again in the primary division, while the 11 secondary students retained the champion of the junior high division. In the individual competition, under the new rule are three age groups divided: Division A, Division B and Division C. Wiley from 8 Elm won the second runner-up in Division A, while Bruce from 7 Yew and Ronald from 7 Oak, ranked No. 5 and No. 6 respectively in Division B; Jiale from 5 Oak and Kevin from 5 Sycamore, while competing with the older players from the same tee boxes, ranked No. 7 and No. 13 respectively in Division B, and Eric from 3 Oak won the second runner-up in Division C. We would like to congratulate all students participating in the competition on their outstanding achievement, and hope they could keep up the excellent work in the future tournaments. Be ambitious!
Acceptance Speech:
I am very happy to be able to contribute to the team. This is the first time I played an 18-hole tournament by walking, although I was really tired in the back 9, I managed to complete the rest holes without making major mistakes. I look forward to winning more medals for the School. This experience makes me know the real meaning of golfing: Persistence is the key to success! - Jiale, 5 Oak
I am so thrilled to make my contribution to the award. I was a little slow at the beginning of the tournament, by making a triple bogey for the first hole. But I tried to adjust my mood and keep focused, and finally won the second runner up in Division C. Golfing teaches me how to beat myself and come back from adversaries. I will work harder together with my teammates, so that we can get more wins for NACIS in the future. - Eric, 3 Oak
Recently I upgraded a new set of golf clubs because I grew taller. And I had very high expectation on my performance. However, I made a few unnecessary mistakes, which made negative impact on my mood and the result. After the match, Dad helped me to analyze the problems hole by hole, the conclusion is that I adopted an aggressive strategy before having fully adapted myself to the new clubs. Golf is really a sport which requires not only hard practice, but also frequent thoughtful analysis. - Kevin, 5 Sycamore
This is the second time for me to play tournament in this champion team, and I also witness the rapid growth of our golf team. I am so proud to be in this winning team! Every time when I play golfing with my teammates, I can clearly observe the growth from all of us. Let’s thrive together on the road of golf! - Wiley, 8 Elm
I feel great that NACIS be able to win the champion and runner-up honors again! I am very satisfied with my performance in the tournament, and thrilled to be able to make great contribution to the champion title. I will start to work harder and expect to become better and better in the future! - Bruce, 7 Yew
I am so grateful for the tremendous support from the organizer, our team and volunteers that I can make contribution for the victorious win. Golf is my favorite sport. Through this tournament, I have made more new friends, who can exchange our thoughts, have fun and make progress together. In the following days, I will practice even harder to achieve more success for the team. Thank you! - Ronald, 7 Oak
