Pre-IB Visual Art is a taster course that prepares students for the requirements of IBDP. Throughout the year students embark on a journey of creativity, critical thinking and self-expression. They explore contemporary artists and masters of the past, discovering what inspires them to create.

 

The visual journal (sketchbook) maps students thought processes and development of ideas from initial research and inquiry to the final piece. Visual analysis tasks encourage students to explore the cultural context of work and pick apart the visual qualities and meaning behind it, uncovering a world of mystery and controversy. 

 

Students work independently using a thematic approach to create a body of work that is coherent and communicates a deeper understanding of the world around them. They are required to experiment with a variety of media, be prepared to make mistakes and demonstrate the ability to reflect upon them constructively. We hope you enjoy the work!
