Dear parents and students,
Welcome to our Secondary update of Semester 2.
It has been another fantastic week in Secondary and we would like to take this opportunity to share with you some of our highlights.
Student Activities
This Monday, our Grade 8 to 11 students took the opportunity to watch a lively Inter-House Debate in our Secondary theatre: Honesty Vs Fortitude. Debating the topic of Covid-19, both sides argued their ideas with passion and won great applause from teachers and peers.
Extra Curricular Activities: Semester 2
First of all, we began our Semester 2 ECA programme this week. What is always phenomenal to see is the variety of opportunities open to students, from sports clubs and teams to activities such as Chess, public speaking and coding. It is even more inspiring to see how many of our ECAs are now being organised, planned and delivered by our Upper Secondary students. For the first time our ECA offer also includes academic ECAs including English, Maths, Chinese and Science classes and we are eager to see the impact of these interventions on our student’s confidence as well as their academics.
Teaching and Learning
Our second lesson observation cycle chas now completed and we are now using the data gained from these observations to prepare personalised professional development programmes which will support all of our staff to share their expertise and continue to develop their practice, and provide your child with the best possible standard of education.
University Guidance Counsellors
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our University Guidance Counsellors, who on Wednesday 24th hosted a Grade 11 parents and led a session on how to prepare for universities across the world and how parents can support students to prepare for their future. This was incredibly well received by parents and we will run further sessions in the future.
IB Art Exhibition
Our Grade 12 Art students are currently in the process of preparing for their IB Art Exhibition which will take place for the families of our Grade 12 parents on April 2nd. The following week will then see opportunities for all of our families to come and view the work on display. It is so exciting to see the students and Mr Ryan planning and plotting how they will convert our Secondary Art Gallery.
We wish you all a great weekend!
