More Able and More Talented
As you know we strive to ensure we have a personalised approach to all students in the school. We have already announced changes to our English teaching in Primary and Secondary to ensure all students get the support they need in language acquisition. The Secondary team have just announced a More Able programme to support those students who need to be challenged to make sure they continue to make excellent progress in
Our Primary and Secondary School have sent out updates to the Student Behaviour management plan we use in school to manage student behaviour and rewards. As we often discuss, in addition to world class qualifications it is the mission of NACIS to ensure students have the correct personal attributes to thrive at university and the workplace. Our Behaviour Plans are designed to ensure that students are very clear on the expectations and the consequences of any poor behaviour.
At the same time, it is equally important that we reward and celebrate good behaviour. Details of our new plans are on Firefly. Please see my message last week on help accessing this platform and contact NACIS Primary Office firstname.lastname@example.org or NACIS Secondary Office email@example.com if you need support. Our new plans conform to the updated Shanghai expectations on behaviour in schools.
Visit by Nord Anglia Education Team
Last Monday we welcomed our NAE Regional Education team. They met with members of our academic leadership team to learn more about the school and plan how we will work together to continue to improve standards. The team, led by Ms Jenny Chen, are an incredible resource on both the Shanghai and Chinese National curricula and the international elements we augment it with.
Visit by Nord Anglia Principals
On Wednesday the Principals of the other NAE schools in Shanghai. Both Principals have been with NAE and in China for many years and so are a fantastic resource for us. Ms Wallace, the NAIS Principal, and Ms Hughes, the NAIS Head of IB, spent the day with our IB Team. NAIS (and BISS) have had fantastic results at the IB Diploma over the last few years so it was an excellent opportunity for us to collaborate on how we continue our great, world beating results, over the coming years. Ms Wallace and Ms Hughes wrote a lovely report of their time with us.
Mr Lancaster, the BISS Principal, and Mr Devonish, the Olympic Gold Medallist who works at BISS, met with our Secondary leadership team and our Director of Sport to discuss how Mr Devonish could support our new More Talented programme which we are in the process of launching. More information on this will be available soon. As you can imagine, we are very excited to be able to add this to our existing World Class curriculum.
Minhang Education Bureau
We were delighted to welcome Ms. Qiao, the deputy director of Minhang Education Bureau and the leadership team to NACIS on Wednesday. They met with our Secondary leadership team to talk about the secondary curriculum.
