Drama Workshop - IMYC English Ms Lucy's Grade 6 and 7 English students enjoyed the privilege of a professional theatre workshop by two professional performers from the Rotterdam English Speaking Theatre (REST).

Students learned about improvisation, staging, writing, performance techniques and more!

In our last IMYC unit cycle, students in Ms Lucy’s G6 and G7 English classes learned about Theatre and Performance. Students learned about improvisation, staging, writing, performance techniques and more! All linked to the following IMYC Units and Big Ideas:

  • Grade 6 Risk: Progress involves exposing ourselves to, and considering the impact or forms of danger, harm, uncertainty, or opportunity.

  • Grade 7 Curiosity: The desire to know more drives exploration and aspiration

To culminate our learning the last week of school before the break, students enjoyed the privilege of a professional theatre workshop by 2 professional performers from the Rotterdam English Speaking Theatre (REST).

Georgie Oliver and Michelle Tan came to visit and delivered a workshop on improvisation. Students generated creative and spontaneous ideas and turned them into performances. They also learned how to use specific skills and techniques to create and develop characters and scenarios. As Ms Lucy said, “throughout the workshop, it was evident that the students were not only engaged in the process, but were also able to confidently demonstrate key performance skills that they had gained throughout their IMYC units.”

Here are some photos from our learning!
