Damian Belshaw

Damian Belshaw deputy headteacher Nord Anglia International School New York

Assistant Head, Head of Lower School

Damian has 16 years teaching experience within 5 UK schools including three years as Principal in his current role. Damian achieved a BA Hons in Politics at the University of Huddersfield before acquiring his PGCE at the University of Leicester. Damian’s teaching career began in 2003 when he worked for three years at a school in Mansfield, before relocating to a Middle School in Leicestershire where he became the leader of two faculties. Damian then moved to an upper school where he became a member of the school’s senior leadership team before moving back to a Mansfield school shortly before the birth of his third child. For the past five years Damian has worked at a multi-ethnic inner-city school, the last three years of which as Principal. Damian successfully led the school, which became the second most improved school in the UK. Damian strongly believes in the power of quality teaching to transform the learning, education and lives of children. Damian moves to New York with his wife, daughter and two sons. He enjoys reading, music, watching the NE Patriots and supporting Nottingham Forest football (soccer!) club. In preparation for the ‘big move’, he has already joined the New York branch of the Nottingham Forest supporters club. He, and his family, are extremely excited about getting started at NAISNY and working with the Faculty and children and grateful to be able to serve the NAISNY community.
