Kat graduated from the University of Derby in 2004 with a Bachelor of Education in Primary teaching and has significant experience of classroom teaching across a range of ages and abilities. After leaving university, Kat taught at a school in Watford for nine years where she was able to develop as an educator and build great relationships with the pupils and families attending the school. As she developed her skills as a teacher she was given more responsibility and was asked to become part of the Senior Leadership Team. After completing a masters level course to become a maths specialist teacher, and as an outstanding practitioner, Kat was asked to work part-time as a seconded maths teaching and learning advisor for the Local Education Authority. Prior to joining NAISNY, Kat worked in a private school in Buckinghamshire, which was a fantastic experience in an incredible school.
