Athletics Philosophy

The MET's Athletic Program is offered to students from 1st through 12th Grades and offers a variety of sports that students can choose to participate in throughout the year.

Our Mission

The mission of the MET Athletics Program is to support the academic, social-emotional, and physical development of our students through the promotion of teamwork, sportsmanship and athletic competition.

We believe that participation in athletics is a valuable component of a student’s education.  Thus, the program operates with the same objectives and goals of the overall educational program at the MET. We believe that participation in athletics helps foster teamwork, problem solving skills, self-discipline, and self-confidence.

We expect that through the development of these skills our student-athletes will become confident, capable, ethical and contributing members of the school community.

Our Vision

The MET Athletics program enriches the lives of our student-athletes.

Our young people incorporate healthy activity and habits into their lives, and develop into their best selves as students, athletes, teammates, and citizens of the world. Our student-athletes work collaboratively to reach performance goals, persevere through failure with resiliency, and compete with integrity.

Through fitness and sport our student-athletes embrace healthy living, develop confidence, and go on to lead productive and positive lives.

Priorities of the Athletics Department

The MET seeks to develop a culture that values extracurricular participation and student success across a variety of activities and programs.  In order to achieve this we aim to:

  • Create an environment that values sportsmanship and commitment.

  • Engage as many students as possible in extracurricular opportunities.

  • Promote a positive, competitive environment that values  team success and personal growth.

  • Set clear expectations for coaches, parents, and students.

Core Values

Teamwork: All student-athletes are positive contributors to the team. Each teammate is responsible, accountable and dependable.

Sportsmanship: All student-athletes demonstrate sportsmanship by respecting coaches, teammates, opponents, officials and the game, and by demonstrating grace in victory and in defeat.

Commitment: All student-athletes  demonstrates the commitment and work ethic necessary to be successful. Every student has  the opportunity to participate in the athletics program.

Academic Success: Student-athletes are held to high standards in both athletics and academics. We believe student-athletes need to develop time management skills to balance training and study.

Healthy lifestyle: Student-athletes maintain a healthy lifestyle, making good choices around nutrition, sleep and balance of activities.  Student-athletes should maintain a chemically free lifestyle in order to achieve optimal performance.

School Pride: Student-athletes demonstrate pride, respect, and commitment to their teams, schools, and community through effort and positive attitude.

Leadership: Student-athletes motivate  teammates to achieve their goals.
