Family Pattaya - Four Top Attractions in and Around the City There are plenty of attractions for families to explore in and around Pattaya. Former Regents' student, Zanzi Spear, continues her exploration of what Pattaya in Thailand has to offer families with a look at some of the best cultural activities in and around the city.

Art in Paradise (Museum)

Art in Paradise is the first interactive art museum in Thailand. It has hundreds of 3D mural and floor paintings which the viewers can stand next to so it looks as though they are in fact part of the artwork themselves. The museum is composed of different rooms, all of which have different themes. There is an aqua room, a safari room, a classic art room, an Ayutthaya room, a Thai room, an Egypt room, a Surrealism room and a dinosaur room.  The appeal of this museum is that there is something for everyone: visiting the museum would therefore be a great day trip for a family in Pattaya. Children will find it fun and exciting and they will also be learning about the art and the culture at the same time.

Khao Chi Chan

The engraved image of the Buddha on the Khao Chi Chan cliff is said to be the largest of its kind, as it is 130 metres high and 70 metres wide. This image of the Buddha was created to honour H.M. King Bhumibol and to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of his enthronement. It is a major tourist attraction in Pattaya; many foreigners come to take pictures and many Thais come to worship and pay their respects. If you are living in Pattaya it is worth visiting Khao Chi Chan as it gives you an insight into the Buddhism beliefs and traditions in Thailand.

Pattaya Floating Market

Thailand is famous for its floating markets, so why not visit the floating market in Pattaya. Pattaya Floating Market differs from other floating markets in Thailand as it is divided into four sections representing the cultural heritage of the four main regions of Thailand: North, Northeast, Central and South.

You can purchase authentic Thai food, souvenirs, Thai handicraft and little art pieces. There is also a wood-carving museum. When you visit the Floating Market you have the option of either walking around the stalls at the side of the river or taking a boat tour to see the Thai architecture, the traditional ways of life and locals selling their freshly cooked food on their boats.

Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden

The Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden is said to be one of the most beautiful gardens in Southeast Asia. It features a wide range of trees and flowers, which will undoubtedly appeal to those with an interest in nature or gardening. When walking around the gardens you may also see a variety of animals, such as deer, monkeys, butterflies and many others. There are cultural and traditional shows for the visitors to watch, including traditional Thai dance and Thai boxing.
