Yesterday morning the Year 12 IB Geography students set off at 5.00am to Koh Phi Phi to collect data for their Geography IA. This piece of work is worth up to 25% of their final IB Grade.

The students are investigating the impact of tourism on two contrasting beaches, Ton Sai Bay, which is the honeypot of tourism on Koh Phi Phi and Laem Tong Bay, a quiet couples and family resort. The students will spend four days collecting and writing up their data, which will enable them to answer their fieldwork question; ' To what extent are the social and environmental Impacts of tourism different at two selected beaches in Koh Phi Phi.'

So far the students have completed their first transect of Laem Tong Beach and are in the process of completing both tourist and local questionnaires.
