The 2020 calendar year is one that will go down in history, many of us (including the children) will remember this year for a very long time.

It is always interesting to hear the children speak about what they have gone through, how Virtual Schooling has given them a sense of belonging and their hope that the pandemic will change the way people behave for the better.

We all know that children write best when they are given a purpose and linking this to a current ‘real-life’ experience, often results in more powerful writing. Recently, Year 6 have been writing information leaflets ‘A Guide to Life in 2020’. The level of writing was extremely high; however, the most refreshing aspect was being able to see things through a child’s eyes. Well done, Year 6!

Christmas 2020

Our NAIS MANILA Christmas Celebration

This Christmas will look very different for all of us, with restrictions on travel continuing around the globe. The virtual world that we currently live in does however still provide us with an opportunity to remain connected and a sense of normalcy.

As a parent that regularly supports their child through Virtual Schooling, I appreciate the effort that goes on behind the scenes, to make even the shortest of videos for a school project. I’ve lost count of the number of times that we’ve been re-arranging furniture, designing backgrounds, checking lighting and recording videos late on a Sunday night!

Our Christmas Celebration this year came about through a tremendous collaborative effort from our whole school community. I can’t thank our amazing Teachers, TA’s and parents enough for going the extra mile to ensure that the children still had their Christmas Celebration. A special mention must go to Ms. Formento, for pulling everyone together and working tirelessly to ensure that the show must go on!

The most important thanks should always go to the children, who have been fantastic! Many of the ideas, facts, poetry and jokes came directly from them. I hope that you gained as much joy and happiness as we did from watching the children dancing and singing Christmas songs – it really does now feel like Christmas!

From all of at NAIS MANILA, I would like to wish you and your families a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
