The spirit of International Week was once again celebrated, as we embraced the diversity of our Krylatskoe Lower Campus.

During the week of the 9th to 13th November, ISM Krylatskoe Lower Campus held its annual International Week. The spirit of International Week was once again celebrated, as we embraced the diversity of our campus. Students learned about new countries, shared their culture with their classmates and ended the week with a virtual exhibition to showcase their learning.

This year, each class studied two different countries, one developed and one developing country, to draw comparisons about how people live around the world. Students examined how each of their countries has implemented the Sustainable Development Goals and began to think of reasons why one country was more ‘successful’ than another. There were many discussions about which country they would rather visit and why. Some classes even came up with solutions for how countries could meet their goals.

We also embraced the culture of each of the countries studied as Year One celebrated Diwali with art inspired by India, and Year Two made Peruvian rugs based on the traditionally bright colours and geometric patterns seen in Peru. Year Three tasted Japanese sushi and learned about the transport systems in Japan and India, while Year Four made totem poles inspired by the First Nations in North America.

In place of our usual celebration of the International Breakfast to end the week, parents were invited to a virtual exhibition. Each student had an opportunity to share their work with their parents online and show off their traditional costumes. We can’t wait for next year’s celebrations!
