This program, in the style of “Dragon’s Den” allows for the use and practise of the skills of communication, collaboration, creative problem-solving, and public speaking-- skills which will help them better prepare them for the upcoming work experience.
This involves them working in teams to develop a product idea, conduct market research, produce a promotional television advert and poster campaign, conduct some financial analysis, before they pitch their ideas to a panel of three judges. Judges, taking the role of venture capitalists, then follow up with tough questions, which will help aid the students’ ability to think on their feet and project confidence.
The entire third floor is abuzz with activity with excited students running about filming advertisements, conducting interviews, designing logos and questionnaires, and a myriad of other tasks. All of this is completely student-centered, with teachers providing minimal guidance so students practice their independence as well. The energy is palpable and students are massively enjoying both the challenge and responsibilities along with an opportunity to compete with others while being part of a team. All ideas are interesting, innovative and random sampling includes clothing that changes colours for childrens’ safety, drones that integrate with smart watches, and convertible shoes as a fashion item. We are excited to see the final presentations.
