On Saturday morning, Dover Court held the ACSIS Under 9's Football Finals. This was the first set of competitive games the children had played all term due to the haze.
We had two teams representing our school, the ‘Dover Court Tigers’ and the ‘Dover Court Sharks’. Both teams did exceptionally well winning their first few games.
Goals came from William Walder, Juan Parodi, Billy Hodgson, Kaido Ikeda, Kaelen Pickens, Joshua Spooner, Seia Yano, Alfie Earl and not forgetting Daniel Lawson who scored a hat trick in the opening match against Chatsworth International School.
As the tournament progressed, both Dover Court teams came face to face in the Semi- Finals. This was a close match and the Dover Court Tigers just snatched it winning 1-0 taking them through to the Finals against Canadian International School.
As the Finals got underway, the atmosphere was electric and the game became quite tense. During the second half, Canadian International School were ahead by 3 goals to 1 but as the clock was slowly ticking, Dover Court grabbed one back. With 1 minute to go Dover Court were applying more pressure to their opponents but they just couldn’t get that goal they needed to get to penalties. The final whistle was blown and Canadian International School became victorious winning the ACSIS Under 9’s Shield.
Throughout the competition, all the children showed tremendous sportsmanship. Well done to both Dover Court teams and parents for their support and hopefully next year we can win it!
