Dear DCIS Parents and Guardians,

Last week we held our first House Day of the new academic year. It was wonderful to see both students and teachers get into the house spirit and partaking in various events on campus. Our next House Day will be next week, Tuesday 18th September, when the students will participate in a house literacy event.

The ECAs start on this Friday, 14th September. We always start our extra-curricular activities on a Friday so that the Friday of half-term is a 3pm finish. This allows those families who are getting away for the break the chance to leave on Friday evening.

We have had a couple of questions about the change in SODEXO’s charges for their online top up of Campus online. They previously charged $30 to cover all top ups for the year. They have now moved to a percentage and fixed fee model. For parents of primary children the fee should be roughly the same if a meal is taken every day, so any family who uses the service less frequently would then save on this year’s arrangement.

Mr. Bull and I invite all interested parents to Cooper Hall on Thursday 13th September, 6.30pm-7.30pm. We will be giving more information on the development of our Secondary School and the building plans for expanded Secondary facilities and a new Sports Hall.

Have a great week.

Mr. Christopher Short
Principal

NAE Global Campus

Welcome Back!

  • This year, Global Campus will be led by Tom Handley in Upper Primary (Year 3- 6) and Pete Winkley in Lower Primary (Year 1 and 2).

  • Thank you to Jack Odey and Anna Vessey for all of their tireless work promoting and running Global Campus last year.

  • A warm welcome to all Year 3 students (and staff) who join the platform for the first time this academic year.

New Year, New Global Campus

The Global Campus Team in the UK received a wide range of feedback from staff, parents and students regarding Global Campus. Following this, there have been a few changes made to the way in which the Global Campus will run this year;

  • The number of competitions has reduced, allowing for more focus!

  • The number of books in the ‘Global Library’ has also reduced.

  • The login process has been streamlined and improved.

  • The website is more user friendly and easier to navigate.

Photographers of the Year

  • This competition launched towards the end of last year and has been running over the course of the summer holidays.

  • The deadline for submitting entries is Monday 29th October.
  • In the meantime, students can upload ‘Practice Shots’ online to share with others.
  • Students can also learn about the themes of the competition and complete an online course (click here).

Global Campus Launch Assembly

  • Global Campus for this academic year will be launched on Friday 14thSeptember during assembly.

Thank you,

The Global Campus Team
