Dear DCIS Parents and Guardians,

It was great to see so many of you here for orientation last week, many thanks for your kind words on the refurbishment and improvements we have made over the summer. Our admin team has worked incredibly hard with our contractors to complete almost all our projects by today. Four items in the works programme remain outstanding; the reception area will be furnished and completed over the coming weeks, the new bin bay on the roundabout will be finished this week, the new trolleys to better store Primary lunches will be in place in the next two weeks and the Sensory Room will be completed over half term. I will be hosting a parent presentation in September to provide more details on the new Secondary block and Sports Hall to be built ready for the next academic year.

Thank you for your patience on the switch to the new bus company, the vast majority of buses were here on time and GOH are working with parents where we need to make some changes to the schedule. Please can I take this opportunity to remind existing parents and inform new parents on our guidance to allow traffic to flow as smoothly as possible and safely. Please only drop off and pick up at the point outside Block E (the turning circle), there are staff there to help children into and out of cars or taxis so it can be used by children of all ages. We have limited parking at the front of the school, this should only be used for parents of Nursery, Reception and DSE children. Further parking is available across the road at Singapore Polytechnic. Parking on Dover Road is not allowed, the LTA have been active in enforcing this in recent months. We had approval over the summer to install a crossing outside our main gate so we are currently working with the authorities on the technical permissions we now need.

This year’s iGCSE results will be released this Thursday. We were very pleased to hear over the summer that one of our students, Joseph – now in Year 13, had received 3 awards from our exam board. Two were for the best scores in Singapore in Geography and English Language while a third award was the highest score in the World for Global Citizenship. He will be presented with his awards at a ceremony at the end of next month.

A reminder that the ECA registration for term 1 is now open and will be available until August 30th. Please do take the time to review and choose the ECA options with your children.

I wish you all the best for the coming week and, if you weren’t able to visit last week or today please do come to see the new facilities we have developed over the summer.

Mr. Christopher Short
Principal
