Dear DCIS Parents and Guardians,

It was great to finally have the children back in school last week and I know that when I talked to a few of you, you were equally happy that term had started! It was lovely to see the students' reaction to our summer building work, the library being the main focus, but we also had some very positive comments on our improved science,  music and ICT facilities.

The beginning of a new academic year is always slightly hectic, especially when it comes to buses, as teachers and TAs nead to learn the home routines for their new class. This improved dramatically as the week continued but I am grateful to all parents for their patience. GOH are now finalising the invoices, please contact them if you still have queries. SODEXO tell us that they have finalised their issues with accounts but please let us know if you are still having any concerns.

We received our iGCSE results on Thursday and were extremely pleased with them. Full details are available here. Headline figures are great but what is important to us is how each child achieved and there are some fantastic outcomes within these results. All students can be justifiably proud of the grades they received and we appreciate the hard work behind them. Most of these students have now started in Year 12 on our IB Diploma Programme where they are joined by students from other schools in Singapore and elsewhere to form our second IB cohort.

Last week I met with Sarah and Lola, who represented us at the UN Sustainability Conference in New York over the summer. Along with Ms Burk they had a fantastic week, the highlight of which being a tour of the UN Headquarters and the chance to meet one of the Singaporean representatives to the UN.

The 2018/19 Parent Handbook will be available on the Parent Portal from tomorrow as will a PDF version of our parent calendar.

Have a great week.

Mr. Christopher Short
Principal
