Dear DCIS Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the third week of the term, the new academic year is now truly underway. It is great to see everyone getting used the new routine in their new year group and classes and it is brilliant to see the pride shown as children now tell me they are in Year 1 and not Reception!

Many thanks to all parents who attended the Primary curriculum evening and the Secondary trip information evening last week. We look forward to welcoming all parents of Secondary students to the Secondary curriculum evening tomorrow, Tuesday 4th September at 6pm in Cooper Hall.

It has also been great to see so many parents at our coffee mornings during the first few weeks of term. All these events give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about any aspects of the school. Please note that the Parent Handbook is now available on our Parent Portal, it gives a wealth of additional informational and also whom you should contact if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you to the DCA for organising the Family Picnic on Saturday. Most of my time in the first hour was spent looking at the clouds and the NEA weather app but our concerns were not realised and we had a very successful evening. I hope it gave all parents an opportunity to meet other families in their children’s year groups. The eagle eyed amongst you may have spotted some preliminary work going on in preparation for our new Sports Hall and Secondary Building. Mr. Bull and I are running an information evening on Thursday 13th September at 6.30pm and all parents are welcome. I will also have an update on the pedestrian crossing.

We are very proud that two of our Primary Year Group Leaders have made the final of the British Chamber of Commerce Annual Business Awards in the Future Leaders Category. This award is for people aged 30 and below and is open to entries from any organisation in Singapore. Ms Prince and Ms Dolan join 3 other nominees and will find out later in the month if they have won the overall prize.

Have a great week.

Mr. Christopher Short
Principal
